polskiegzamin B1·B2
Preparation for both Polish exams: telc and the state one

A degree taught in Polish needs a B2 certificate in the language

Both exams count — telc and the state certificate exam — usually from B2. Here you sit the whole written paper under the exam clock, in the format of whichever you pick.

  • The whole written paper under the clock, in your exam's format.
  • Scored against B2 — the mark a Polish-taught degree takes.
  • After every attempt: how far off you are, and what to drill.

You can start with a single part — the shortest is twenty minutes. Sign in and you get three full sets free, no card asked for: telc, state B1 and state B2.

Which certificate a university acceptsB2

Both exams count for admission: telc and the state certificate exam. A university looks at the level, not the issuer — but confirm its list with admissions.

The level required for admission to a degree taught in Polish is set by the regulation of 30 July 2025. A university may set its own bar above it, so check the level and its list of accepted certificates with your programme's admissions office.

How the two exams differ

Which of the two to sit

At the state exam B2 is its own paper: 60% of every part separately, and a written paper running to 250 minutes. One telc paper comes back B1 or B2. What that means for uneven Polish and for admission deadlines is on one page.

Compare the two exams

This is what your result looks like

After every attempt the score stands beside the B2 bar — the one a degree requires — and it stands part by part, not as one number. Below, an example: nine points short of B2, and most of them were lost on reading.

Worth passing first time

  • The exam is 800–1200 zł, depending on the centre.
  • telc: the result takes 4 to 6 weeks (telc's figure), plus up to two weeks before the centre hands it over. State exam: marking takes 3 to 4 months, plus up to 30 days for the certificate.
  • The next state sitting is months away; many telc centres examine every month, but the result takes 4 to 6 weeks (telc's figure), plus the time the centre takes to hand it over. Either way it may land after the intake closes.

An attempt here costs 115 minutes on telc or up to 250 on the state B2, and nothing else. Repeat it as many times as it takes before you pay for that one.

Start with one module

The full exam is 115 minutes with no breaks. Start with one module — the shortest runs twenty minutes — and work up to the whole paper.
