How many points you need on telc Polish B1·B2
Every figure below comes from the official telc document — Egzamin próbny 1, Język polski B1·B2.
B1 or above on the oral exam, and on at least one of the others — the test modules (listening, reading and language elements counted together) or writing.

Below B1 on the oral exam means no certificate, whatever the other results. A B2 certificate needs B2 on the oral exam and B2 in one of the other modules.
What the exam is made of
The exam is counted in three parts and each gets its own result. Below: what is in each, and what it is worth.
Test modules85 min · 59 pts
Three blocks one after another: listening, reading and language elements. The recording plays once, forty minutes for reading is enough for nobody, and in the elements a point goes on a detail nobody would notice in conversation: „czekam na autobus”, not „czekam autobus”. Every answer is marked the moment you check.
Writing30 min · 20 pts
One letter, chosen from two — official or personal. The brief carries several guideline points, and the most expensive mistake is simply to drop one of them; after that they look at how the text is built, how many mistakes are in it and how rich the language is.
Oral examapart · 100 pts
A conversation with the examiners, paired with another candidate: describing a photograph, questions about you, a presentation on a chosen topic and a discussion. The presentation may not be read off the page — read aloud, it scores A2 at best. And half the points here are not for the tasks but for how you speak.
115 minutes in total. Recordings play once.
Here a language model marks this part, from a transcript of your recorded answers — on the points below, which are telc's. It measures pace and pauses; it does not hear pronunciation.
The examiner grades each criterion from "below B1" to "B2". Land on the lowest grade that still counts as B1 everywhere and you get 40 points against a threshold of 35. There is margin, but not much — the aim is not to speak brilliantly, it is never to drop below that anywhere.
Common questions
What is telc Język polski B1·B2?
One exam for two levels: the same paper produces either a B1 or a B2 certificate, depending on the points. The topics stay with school and everyday life.
Is it the same as the state certificate exam?
No. They are two different exams, run by different institutions, and for some purposes they are not interchangeable. For citizenship the offices require the state certificate exam specifically, and telc does not replace it. For the EU long-term resident card telc has counted equally since June 2023, and for admission to a degree taught in Polish it counts from B2.
How many points do you need?
The bars are above, in the certificate block. Add one thing to them: you cannot pass in instalments — a failed exam is retaken whole and at full price.
How do you register for the exam?
At a licensed telc centre — this app registers nobody and issues no certificates. Each centre sets its own dates and prices, so check the nearest sitting on telc's site or with a centre in your own city.
How long does preparing take?
It depends where you start, and nobody can give an honest figure in advance. You can have a faster answer straight away: take one part — the shortest is twenty minutes — and see how many points you are short of the bar. That is a number, not "two months".
Are the tasks a copy of the real exam?
No. They were written for this app, in telc's format. The structure, timings and thresholds come from telc's official mock exam; the tasks themselves are our own. You can download the official mock paper with its recordings free from telc.
The sets in this app were written for it, in the telc format. They are not a copy of the official test — download that from the link above.
