How many points you need

The telc exam has five parts. Below, each in turn: what is in it and how we help you practise it.

Listening: the recording plays once

One recording for the whole part, with the announcements, tones and pauses of telc's official mock exam. You cannot rewind or replay it.

The run is measured off telc's official mock exam: announcements, tones and every pause to the second. Each recording has as many words as its counterpart at telc.

Writing: four criteria and corrections

A language model marks the text against telc's four criteria: points for each, the reason and corrections from your own text. It is not an examiner, but without it the text would get no mark at all.

The oral exam: a picture, a presentation, a discussion

Twenty minutes to prepare. Then: a picture description with the examiner's questions, a short presentation and a conversation with a partner. The examiner asks by voice; you answer into the microphone.

How the oral part is marked

A language model marks the conversation against telc's criteria. It works from a transcript: it measures pace and pauses but cannot hear pronunciation.

Common questions

Do I need an account?

Yes. One click with Google or one link from an email — no password to invent.

What about my data?

The account page hands back everything stored under it in one file, and deletes the account with everything belonging to it. The file holds your answers and scores — never the tasks themselves or the correct answers to them.

Can I practise a single module?

Yes. Practice mode takes one module without the clock: recordings can be replayed, the transcript read, and the score and correct answers show as soon as you check.

Whose tasks are these?

The tasks are ours, written in telc's format. The official mock exam you download free from telc.
