How to write an advert in Polish: a short-text model for the B2 exam

Published 29 October 2026

An advert (reklama) has to catch the eye and get people to act. You open with a slogan or a question to the customer ("Masz dość…?"), say what you offer and what the customer gains, give the details — price, place, time — and end with a call ("Zapisz się już dziś!") and contact details. The imperative and short sentences belong here.

In short

  • Five parts: slogan, offer, benefit, details, a call to action with contact.
  • The imperative and questions to the customer: "Zapisz się!", "Szukasz…?".
  • In the state exam: at B1 — not on that level's list of forms; at B2 — on 3 of the 9 papers in the library, as the short text, 50–60 words.

The regulation lists the advert only among the B2 forms. The papers ask for an advert for a service on a website: a pet hotel, a children's party entertainer, a dance course.

When does this form come up in the exam?

  • At B1 — not on that level's list of forms
  • At B2 — on 3 of the 9 papers in the library, as the short text, 50–60 words

In the state exam's writing part you write two texts — a short one and a long one — from one of three sets to choose from, so you never have to pick this form. The paper prints three criteria for the whole part: task, range and accuracy — 30 points at B1 and 40 at B2 for both texts together. How that splits between the texts, the Commission does not publish. The whole writing part is described on writing.

How do you write an advert, step by step?

  1. Slogan or a question to the customer: "Masz dość…?", "Marzysz o…?".
  2. Offer: who offers what — the business's name, the service.
  3. Benefit: what the customer gets — "nauczysz się…", "odpoczniesz…".
  4. Details: price, place, time, something free.
  5. Call and contact: "Zapisz się już dziś!", a phone number, a website.

A question up front, a benefit for the customer, details, and a call with contact details. The business and the text are made up, not from a paper. Forms like "zapisz się", "zróbcie" are in the imperative.

Common questions

How is an advert different from an ogłoszenie?

An ogłoszenie informs (sprzedam, szukam, zaginął). An advert persuades: it shows a benefit and calls for action. The ogłoszenie has [a post of its own](/poradnik/ogloszenie).

"Ty" or "Państwo"?

Either works. Keep to one throughout the text.

Is the advert in the B1 exam?

It is neither on the regulation's B1 list of forms nor on any B1 paper in the library.
